Solar Panel and Skylight Cleaning in Dandenong (Plus Gutters)

On this leafy Dandenong property, we cleaned solar panels streaked with dried mud and grime using soft brushes and water. In the same visit we cleaned the dirty skylights and cleared gutters packed with leaves.

I'm Enes, and these are the photos from the job, shared with the owner's permission.

    The job at a glance

A quick summary before the photos:

    • Suburb: Dandenong, at the edge of our service area (36.9 km from our Pascoe Vale base)
    • Roof: metal (Colorbond-style) roof on a property with tall trees
    • Work: solar panel cleaning, skylight cleaning and gutter cleaning, all in one visit
    • Main problems: dried mud and grime on the panels, dirty skylights, leaf-packed gutters

Solar panel cleaning: dried mud and grime

The panels had streaks of dried mud and grime running down the glass. On a roof surrounded by trees, rain alone often doesn't shift this kind of build-up. Before doing the whole array, we cleaned a test patch on one panel to see the difference.

Test patch: part of this panel cleaned first. The bright blue section is clean; the dark section is the grime still on the glass.

We cleaned the panels with soft brushes and water, so the glass came clean without harsh scrubbing.

    Skylight cleaning: grimy glass

The skylights were dirty with the same grime as the panels, and less daylight gets through dirty glass.

Because we were already on the roof for the panels, we cleaned the skylights in the same visit.

    Gutters: packed with leaves

With that much tree cover, the gutters were packed with leaves. Blocked gutters overflow in heavy rain, so we cleared them in the same visit.

And the moss on the roof? That's a job for another day

With this much shade and tree cover, the metal roof itself has moss and lichen too. That wasn't part of this visit, which was panels, skylights and gutters, so it's one for another day.

When it's time, Colorbond and metal roofs are only ever soft-washed, never pressure washed, because high pressure strips the paint coating. See our roof cleaning service.

Why leafy properties get dirty panels and skylights faster

Trees drop leaves, sap, pollen and debris, and shaded roofs stay damp longer. Panels, skylights and gutters get dirty faster than on an open street.

Booking them together in one visit is usually more efficient than three separate jobs.
